Her story: a woman who shaped the EU

From an observer to a catalyst for change, Nicole Fontaine was the second woman President of the European Parliament. A champion of Europe and European values, she was an educator and politician who worked to bring the EU closer to Europeans.As the president of the Parliament, she worked tirelessly for dialogue and peace. She also oversaw the adoption of the Euro which turned 20 this year.
