Everyone in Europe has the right to justice and a fair trial

Each year, 9 million people are involved in criminal proceedings in Europe. From today, the EU has put in place special safeguards to protect children who face criminal justice proceedings and in addition, everyone in the EU can now be sure to have access to legal aid.
