The European flag: united in diversity

The European flag was adopted by the Council of Europe after looking at citizens' suggestions. One message: united in diversity. On 29 May 1986, the EU flag was raised for the 1st time: "Over the blue of the sky, the stars represent the people of Europe”. It is the symbol of unity, solidarity and harmony. And this is the Europe we will continue to fight for.
