Over the last 25 years, the European Commission has strengthened rail transport by improving interoperability, reinforcing safety, and developing rail infrastructure. Some of the recent initatives dedicated to trains: 🇪🇺 10 EU pilot projects to boost cross-border rail, including night trains; 🚄 the trans-European transport network that requires trains travelling at speeds of at least 160 km/h by 2040; 👩 the Women in Rail Award, recognising vital contributions of women in the rail sector.
