Romania and Bulgaria are now full members of the Schengen area.As of January 1st, there are no more checks when travelling across land borders to and from Bulgaria or Romania and any other Schengen member country. Border checks for air and sea travel were lifted in March 2024. This means greater ease to travel, work and live across the EU. This also means more opportunities for businesses to operate beyond borders. It is time for the two countries to fully enjoy the Schengen benefits, while continuing to meet the corresponding obligations!
