When a woman is empowered, the world is empowered. Gender equality is a core principle of the EU, but it is not yet a reality. In business, politics and society, we can only reach our full potential if we use all our talent and diversity. The EU is working to make sure that change happens. Throughout its mandate, the #vdLCommission has: 🟣 set rules on pay transparency, to make real the basic principle that equal work deserves equal pay; 🟣 adopted the “Women on boards” directive, bringing more women in Europe’s corporate boardrooms and contributing to break the glass ceiling; 🟣 adopted the first ever EU legislation on combating violence against women to criminalise physical violence, as well as psychological, economic and sexual violence against women across the EU.Our democracies are always stronger when we are all involved equally. #IWD2024 #InternationalWomensDay #EUDelivers #WomensDay
