The EU’s Safety Gate system issued 4,137 alerts last year, the highest number since it launched in 2003. Safety Gate alerts protect you from dangerous products – as soon as one is detected on the EU market, the Safety Gate alerts authorities throughout Europe. Cosmetics were the most flagged category, making up 36% of all alerts. Many contained banned substances like BMHCA, which can cause skin irritation and reproductive harm.Other risky products included: 🧸 Toys 🔌 Electrical appliances 🚗 Motor vehicles 🧪 Chemical productsEuropean Commission is stepping up its protection with stricter safety rules and smarter enforcement — the eSurveillance tool alone scanned 1.5 million websites last year to help remove unsafe products. 🛍️ Consumers deserve safe products no matter where they shop. We are working to make that a reality.
