Today, over 20,000 bee species are buzzing for #WorldBeeDay! 🐝 Bees and other pollinators are vital to life on Earth, keeping over 80% of crop and wild flowering plants alive. Yet, due to intensive land use, climate change, and pollution, the population of wild pollinators has dropped by over 75% in just 27 years, with 1 in 10 bee, hoverfly, and butterfly species now at risk of extinction in the EU. The New Deal for Pollinators aims to protect them, and reverse their decline before 2030, by: 🌿 Mitigating the impacts of pollution, including pesticides 🌼 Restoring degraded ecosystems 🛡️ Protecting habitats 🌾 Taking action to protect the most threatened species Let’s save bees because bees save us, not just today but every day. 🌱
