Are you likelier than others to develop type 2 diabetes? Lifestyle changes could dramatically reduce the risk, but you may need advice and support to make them. EU-funded researchers are trialling an affordable way for healthcare systems to make effective assistance available across entire populations - with a little help from patients' families.
The European Green Deal will transform the way we live, work and move. It will enable us to be self-sufficient, global leaders. However, we have to act now. Therefore, the European Commission prepared three concrete actions that will offer a strong basis for the new deal. First, a Sustainable Europe Investment Plan will support one trillion euros of investment, over the next decade. Second, in March 2020 we will propose the first-ever European Climate Law, in order to make transition irreversible. Third, a Just Transition Fund will leverage public and private money with the help of the European Investment Bank, to help those who will have to take a bigger step. We Europeans are ready, to contribute to a Global Green Deal.
An innovative Swedish SME will soon launch a life-saving test for one of the most lethal and hard-to-detect forms of cancer. Clinically validated in an EU-funded project, the test could revolutionise the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer, providing early detection with unprecedented accuracy, boosting patient survival rates and enabling widespread screening of high-risk groups.
How will climate change shape the Earth’s surface? What are the long-term health effects of food additives? How can online tools change political advocacy and what does this mean for democracy? These are just some of the questions that researchers from around Europe have proposed to explore, and will now be able to, thanks to newly-awarded EU funding.

The EU Air Safety List seeks to ensure the highest level of air safety for Europeans and all other passengers travelling in the European Union.
Europe changed dramatically during the Bronze Age, with huge population shifts generally ascribed to the rise of new metal technologies, trading and climate change. But scientists believe that there may have been another reason for this social upheaval – the plague, possibly transported by, or on the back of, newly domesticated horses.
