When sustainable mobility is high on the agenda, we all win. 🏆 The winner of the European Mobility Award 2023 is the city of Budapest 🇭🇺! The city is leading the way when it comes to providing safer, more sustainable ways to travel in urban areas. Last year, Budapest organised an ambitious car-free weekend attracting about 10,000 people and a Car-Free Day on 22 September 2023. The European Commission wants to make freight transport greener and more efficient. It has proposed new rules to improve rail infrastructure, encourage low-emission trucks and provide better data on emissions.This will help the sector cut its emissions by 90% by 2050 and support the EU single market.

This summer, we saw the chaos and carnage of extreme weather – in Spain, Greece, Slovenia, Bulgaria - across our Union and beyond. ✔️ The European Green Deal was born out of this necessity to protect our planet. It provides the necessary frame, incentives, and investment. The EU wants to support European industry in building its model for decarbonisation. Starting this month, the Commission will be discussing with the industry the best way to do this, via a series of Clean Transition Dialogues. Furthermore, the Commission will present a European Wind Power package to: 🍃 fast-track permitting even more, 🍃 improve the auction systems, and 🍃 focus on skills, access to finance and stable supply chains. Our wind industry is already a European success story. But this is broader than one sector – from wind to steel, from batteries to electric vehicles, our ambition is clear.
